September 6 - 7, 2025
About the Teaching & Ritual
Tempa Dukte Lama will offer the Soul Retrieval and Longevity Ritual and explain its benefits. This powerful ancient Bon ritual offers great blessings for all those attending or supporting the ritual by restoring, healing, and nurturing the strength and vibrancy of the soul and life force.
According to Bon, the soul is the pure strength of the internal elements of the individual. Its primary function is to support and nurture the connection between our life force and lifespan. Its second function is to strengthen and nurture the relationship between our physical body and mind. The soul abides in the mind, and the mind abides in the body. When the soul is weakened, this affects the relationship between our life force and life span and the relationship between our body and mind. When the soul and life force are weakened or disturbed, we become vulnerable toward physical, mental, and emotional misfortunes. In some cases, untimely death or major disturbances in our life can occur.
The Awakened One of Bon, Tonpa Shenrab, taught the powerful ritual of bLa bsLu ‘chi bsLu (La Lu Chi Lu or Soul Retrieval) to retrieve and heal our soul and life force. This ritual relies on the power of meditative absorption, prayers, mantras, and visualization. Since the time of its teaching, this precious ritual has continued to flourish and has been practiced for thousands of years until now, benefiting countless beings.
On Saturday, Tempa Dukte Lama will teach and explain the Soul Retrieval Ritual practice. He will explain why Soul Retrieval is needed and the benefits of this ritual. On Sunday Tempa Lama along with senior students will perform the Soul Retrieval and Longevity Ritual for the benefit of the community and all beings.

For many thousands of years, laypeople have supported lamas and monks to help them offer special prayers that in turn benefit many beings. This creates a powerful relationship of auspicious interconnection between lay communities and their lama and temple.
